MINI steals the show at BIMS | As well as unveiling its unique MINIversity themed stand - complete with its own DJ - MINI UK also drew the crowds at this year's British International Motor Show by offering the public its first tantalising glimpse of the John Cooper Works car in the flesh on home soil. Not only that, but the very first UK JCW owner, an IT consultant from Buckinghamshire, was there to receive the keys to his new Dark Silver car parked in the show's underground car park. Incredibly, having first seen a picture of it at the Geneva Show he contacted MINI High Wycombe the day the car went on sale. Two days later the order was confirmed, and just a few weeks prior to the Motor Show he was told by MINI that he was to become the first UK owner to take delivery. The lucky new custodian told MM that he had always liked the Works styling and had considered a GP - but dismissed it because he needed a four-seater.
AC Schnitzer's stand also provided plenty of interest for MINI fans with its stunning Pepper White Cooper S featuring its 226bhp engine upgrade, sports exhaust, racing suspension, front strut brace and 18in alloys. Needless to say, despite a screen price of £30,096.86 - the car sold within two hours of the show opening. Never the less, we will be testing a similarly specced AC Schnitzer prepared car very soon - so watch this space! |
